William Eager
Art for Your Imagination

William Eager creates acrylic, mixed media, photography and digital artwork that awakens your imagination.

My abstract artwork is deeply connected to my love of nature… specifically animals and plant life. My biomorphic paintings such as Chili Pepper and Expansion share the exotic shapes and colors which are designed to attract pollinators.  The exotic dance of life often involves competition and collaboration with other plants, weaving themselves together in a dazzling display of chaotic entanglement.  What we see above ground is often a mirror of the beautiful entanglement and evolution that occurs unseen, below the soil, which I try to capture in my “Roots Run Deep” series.

For several  years I have also been intrigued by graffiti, petroglyphs and pictographs… especially images discovered on stones, walls and buildings.  Some have existed for thousands of years.... others a few weeks.  These images, words, messages, scratches and drawings pile up on each other over time.  Like layers of shellac that represent ideas and feelings of people who live today… and others who lived ages ago when a different sense of society and relationships between man and nature existed.  Like an archeologist who uncovers mysteries about society as they dig back through a site; my art layers one message on top of another.

Indeed, the flat surface of canvas, paper and digital take on a new dimension when images, words and symbols are layered.  Unlike the optical illusion of three dimensions created in a landscape or portrait, it invokes our imagination to fill in the gaps creating personal meaning and experiencing what our own mind creates.  Certain themes remain eternal.  Animals, plants, nature, children, love and beauty.  I sincerely hope you enjoy the art work and that it triggers your imagination to fly.
